Reminder: City to Hold Mandatory Water Conservation Meeting Tuesday

Water levels in local aquifers have dropped by more than 30 feet from April 2012 to April 2013, according to the city.

The city has scheduled a special city council session Tuesda to discuss new mandatory water conservation measures that were instituted last month by the city.

The new measures, which can be viewed in detail in the city's report, require residents to cut their usage to below 2007-08 levels or face a fine.

The measures were passed at a City Council meeting last month and the new rules went into effect immediately.

In a letter sent out by the city (which can be viewed here) the city said water levels in local aquifers dropped by more than 30 feet from April 2012 to April 2013. According to the city, Sierra Madre relies on local sources for 90 to 95 percent of its water.

The meeting will be at City Hall and starts at 6 p.m.

Update: The Pasadena Star-News reports that there were multiple angry residents who brought up the rules change at Tuesday's City Council meeting.
