Give Back With 'Empty Bowls'

Purchase a handcrafted ceramic soup bowl at Sierra Madre United Methodist Church to help homeless families.

Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley will be hosting an “Empty Bowls” event on April 15.  Empty Bowls 2012 aims to provide assistance to homeless children and their families.

Attendees of the event will get the chance to purchase handcrafted ceramic soup bowls—donated by local potters such as Lynn Hendricks and the First Christian Church Fine Arts Academy in Glendora, the Champion Donors, and renowned ceramist Robert Maxwell and his students at Ramona Convent Secondary School in Alhambra—and feast on soup prepared by restaurants such as: Camilo’s California Bistro, Charlie’s Trio, Eddie’s Piazza, DiPilla’s Italian Restaurant, The Fabiolus Café, Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant, The Only Place in Town, Souplantation, Stonefire Grill, Wang’s Place, and Wolfe’s Market.  Guests will also be able to buy pottery and jewelry made by local artists.

All proceeds from the events will go to Family Promise, a nonprofit that provides shelter to homeless families while helping them find employment and housing.
