Water and Sewer Rate Meeting, Bear Response, Overnight Burglary

Five things to know in Sierra Madre today.

1) Wednesday night there will be a meeting on the city's possible plan to increase water and sewer rates later this year.  The meeting is the first in a series of five and will be focused on the Water and Sewer Department's budget and finances.  The meeting is at 6:30 at City Hall.

2) In case you missed it, another burglary overnight, this one at the construction site at the upper campus at 160 N. Canon.

3) Officers in neighboring Arcadia responded to a foothill bear sighting in a resident's driveway and attempted to scare off with a "less lethal" round to try to divert him to the wilderness, according to the Arcadia Police Department crime blotter.  The bear was struck and ran off.

4) If you are looking for something to do this weekend, check out our Sierra Madre Patch calendar.  If you don't find something there, Pasadena also has its own Patch calendar with a few more options.

5) Thursday's Summer Fun in the Park youth program on Thursday morning features a fitness-centric activity this week.
