City Council Meeting Tuesday: Alarm Fees Ordinance

Tuesday's City Council agenda includes items on an ordinance establishing fees for house alarms that have gone off in error.

The alarm fee structure rate has been discussed at previous meetings - the Council will consider passing an ordinance to fine home owners whose alarms go off in error, $100 for the second error, and $200 for all subsequent errors.

The city says more than 90 percent of police responses to home alarms are because someone has accidentally triggered the alarm, according to city documents.

Other items include:

  • Consideration of a massage ordinance to bring Sierra Madre's regulation of massage practitioners into compliance with state law.
  • A public hearing on lighting and landscaping districts that the city wants to relinquish control of.
  • An update on the city's general plan
The agenda for the meeting is attached to this post.  You can see more in-depth reports on any item on the agenda here.
