PUSD Authorizes Contract for Sierra Madre Middle School Construction
The Pasadena Unified School Board voted Tuesday night to award a $27.8 million contract for the construction of the Sierra Madre Middle School, according to Adam Wolfson, a spokesman for the district.
The new campus will have 22 classrooms, a computer lab, two science labs, a gym, library cafeteria and a parking area, according to plans (see the proposed site plan on the Measure TT Bond website).
The vote on the contract was 5-1, with board member Kim Kenne voting against and board member Renatta Cooper absent from the meeting, according to Wolfson.
The school board rejected moving forward on the project in January after the lowest bid it received was almost $32 million.
The district had anticipated that the construction should cost about $22 million, according to PUSD documents.
