Cow Stolen From Mother Moo Creamery

The plastic cow that grazes outside of Mother Moo Creamery and serves as the ice cream shop's mascot has been stolen. Police are working on identifying a female suspect caught on surveillance video.

The iconic plastic cow that sits outside Mother Moo Creamery in Kersting Court has been stolen.

Karen Klemens, the ice cream shop's owner, contacted the Thursday after she opened the shop at noon and noticed that the cow (pictured right) was missing.

Police were able to get their hands on a surveillance video that allegedly shows an adult female walking away with the cow, said Sgt. Esther Doyle.

"We're working on identifying this person and seeing what kind of background they have," said Sgt. Doyle. "It's a great start."

Klemens is also reaching out to the public to ask for the cow's safe return.

"I'm sad because, it may be a plastic cow, but it's one of the things that... made Mother Moo's what Mother Moo's is all about," Klemens told Patch.

The cow has been a fixture in Kersting Court since the ice cream shop opened, with children regularly walking by to ring the bell around its neck. Klemens also used the cow to teach students who toured the shop how ice cream was made.

"It is a cow and I’m sure the person who took it thought it was a prank, but let’s get serious, it is a theft. They stole something from me," said Klemens.

"Yeah, I could replace it, but it wouldn’t have the same sentimental value," said Klemens. "I’ve had it since I opened."

Klemens said that a number of children came in the shop today and asked where the cow went.

"[Mother Moo's] is a happy business, I don't want to deal with something that's not happy," said Klemens.

Klemens is asking for the cow's safe return, no questions asked.
