I was excitingly expecting British and continental foodstuffs to compliment the other ethnic choicesRead More in the area but, alas, it sold pretty much the same as the normal American food stores. I would most certainly have used it if it had been different. I also hated the self-checkout. Give me a personal touch anytime. The Arcadia store was sterile, with no character or charm. I'll take Ralph's over that.

It's not the model. . . TJ's, a similar model, thrives in this community. I'm thinking maybe it'sRead More that whopping 5,000 employees for 200 stores.

The city of Sierra Madre is looking to fill an Administrative Assistant position in the Pubic WorksRead More Department. ... ok, I get it that the whole Obama and California govt. growth thing is out of control by a lot, but a PUBIC Works Department? Really?! Is this a job where gardening experience would be a plus? What is the potential promotion? Woodworker? .... thank you very much... you have been a great audience.

I had no idea that metal bowls make them turn brown faster. I'm a huge avocado lover. Great info,Read More thank you!

I reserve one of the pits and put it in the guacamole when storing it. I don't know why, but it hasRead More delayed the guacamole from browing longer than without. As Brenda shared, it is very important to eliminate any air in the storage of guacamole as well.

I agree with kitinhills. If they had opened bona fide Tesco stores like they have in England, IRead More would have been in heaven.

Now if they had sold more British/Continental goods I would have used them more, as it is, ninetyRead More percent seems to be the stuff I could buy in Ralphs or Vons so no point going to another store. I was really excited when it was first stated we would get this large British company setting up shop but that didn't last long as it just became another standard supermarket. We have specialist Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese etc stores to serve the diverse community so why no European store as there are plenty of folk of European descent here. Santa Monica is not somewhere to venture weekly to do the shopping. Many Americans like to try food items from other countries.

Whew! We dodged the bullet on THAT one! Would have been a bummer to have started building a newRead More store and then....

It will be interesting to see what the oil companies' profits are when the year ends. I rememberRead More when the Gulf oil spill was happening, prices were jacked up. End of the year, the oil companies had made a killing! We're being had (again).

The event looked to be a huge success judging by the turn-out. I had my usual (new photo above) andRead More left feeling quite contented! It was good to see some familiar faces and enjoy some tasty cuisine, all the while supporting a local landmark and educational institution -- Alverno High School!

These 500 homes will have no affect on an SB/ LA county market of 27 Mil. populations. CAR isRead More creating panic and unfounded fear in my opinion. Peggy.
