Sierra Madre Week Ahead: Water Rates Hearing, Heat in the Forecast

See some of what's happening in Sierra Madre for the week of Aug. 12-16.

1. Sierra Madre's regularly-scheduled City Council meeting on Tuesday has been canceled and will not be held.

2. The Sierra Madre Playhouse rolled out a new play that started Friday, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer."  Read more here.

3. After weeks of relatively cool weather, the forecast is for the temperatures to heat up in Sierra Madre this week, with a high of 94 forecast for Thursday and Friday.

4.  If you are a parent you surely already know, but school starts for Pasadena Unified students this week.

5. There is a hearing on Wednesday at City Hall about setting new water and sewer rates for city customers.  Wednesday's hearing will be the first in a series on the state of water and sewer rates in the city, leading up to the possible increase of rates by the Council this Fall.
