Pasadena Bows Out Early in Bonita Air Assault

Bulldogs show improvements on offensive end during two-day tournament.

With summer football well underway, 30 teams took part during the Bonita Air Assault two-day passing tournament at Bonita High School. Some mixed results came from Pasadena High School in Saturday’s tournament bracket pool action.

The Bulldogs were eliminated early in the second round of the championship bracket to Santiago. But in both their games, they showed gradual improvement from Friday’s round robin action.

“It is amazing how much turnaround you can have in a day,” Bulldogs head coach Randy Horton said. “We had a couple of dropped balls here and there, but we nearly played flawless football today. Even though we only played in two games during the tournament bracket, these boys are finally getting into things the right way.”

This could be a good sign developing from a year ago. Last year with a 4-6 record, the Bulldogs scored eight points or fewer in five of their six losses. These two days playing 7-on-7 have given some major progress from a struggling offensive team.

“It certainly gives us high hopes as we work through summer football,” Horton said. “These guys over the two days played with a lot of heart, and we have shown signs of progress each game. As we get back to work on Monday, we just need to build from this experience.”
