La Salle's Bowdien Derby Named to All-CIF Squad

La Salle junior pitcher led Lancers to second round of Division 4 playoffs.

The CIF-Southern Section announced its All-CIF baseball teams Monday and La Salle junior pitcher/shortstop Bowdien Derby was the lone Lancer to make the squad.

Derby was one of the key players on a La Salle team that finished second in the Del Rey League for the first time since the Lancers joined the league in the 2007 season.

Derby compiled a 0.94 ERA in 82 1/3 innings, giving up just 11 earned runs while striking out 101. He also threw a . At the dish, Derby hit .435 with three home runs, 12 doubles and 19 RBIs.
