Video: PTA Awards SGV Water District

Sierra Madre School's PTA presented the prestigious Golden Oak Service Award to the San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District and the Theodore Payne Foundation.

With the school year coming to a close, PTA awarded its most prestigious honor, the Golden Oak Service Award. The award went to the San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District and the Theodore Payne Foundation for their efforts to help create a native plant landscape at the school.

“Representatives from the water district came to our school, they came to realize the value our community placed on our lawn and our outside spaces, and committed themselves to collaborating with our parents, our school and our community to create a water-wise landscape…” said Gwen Robertson, a PTA member, as she presented the award on May 29.

The Golden Oak Service Award is given annually in California to “an individual or organization that has made significant contributions to the welfare of children and youth in the school or community,” according to the PTA.
