Muir, PHS to Host Rose City Classic

John Muir High School and Pasadena High School will host the Rose City Classic basketball tournament Nov. 28-Dec. 3.

Pasadena High School basketball coach Tim Tucker and John Muir High School coach Gamal Smalley have come together to combine this year's Rose City Classic into two divisions that will give folks in the San Gabriel Valley a lot of basketball to watch from November 28 through December 2nd.

Pasadena High will host the Presidents division while Muir will host the Governors division.

"When Tuck brought the idea to me, I was really excited because it will mark the first time Muir has hosted an in-season tournament in the history of the school," said Smalley. "Of course, we argued over the title, as I wanted our division to be called the Rose City Super/Super Cool West Division, but he won the argument," he joked.

Teams from Los Angeles to the Inland Empire will meet in Pasadena for the tournament.  The Pasadena High Bulldogs, a perennial power, will showcase some of the top ranked teams in the state, including La Verne Lutheran, Price, Etiwanda, Washington Prep, Ribet Academy, Roosevelt of Corona, Long Beach Jordan, Arroyo Valley, Sylmar, Chino Hills and more.

The John Muir Mustangs were the surprise team in the area last year, as the CIF DVAA Championship Finalist will return ten letterman. The Mustangs will go up against LACES, the same team that eliminated them from the state playoffs last season. They will also welcome Monrovia, L.A. Jordan, L.A.  Fremont, L.A.  Marshall, Reseda High, as well as the Marshall Eagles of Pasadena.

What are these "organizations that can assist educators in providing an additional incomeRead More source for school supplies?" What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
