Alverno Candlelight Celebration

The annual Alverno Candlelight Celebration is coming up on Wednesday, December 14 at 7:00 p.m.

It is a beautiful procession that takes place in and around the Villa Del Sol d’ Oro on Alverno’s campus and it officially kicks off the holiday season. Current students and alumnae re-enact the story of Jesus’ birth to the Annunciation.

Student and alumnae actors will re-create the story
and the crowd will join the choirs for traditional Christmas music. Each person carries a candle and walks in a procession around the Villa to watch the scenes. All community members are welcome to attend the event and experience the warmth of the holiday season through one of the most cherished Alverno traditions.

Alumnae who are in attendance are given a special red candle to signify their status as alumnae.

“The Candlelight Celebration is a beautiful event that definitely puts each person in the Christmas spirit,” says Sue Behrens ‘78. “It brings together alumnae, current families and many other members of the community in a beautiful celebration of the season.”
