Choirs by Candlelight at Alverno

Check out photos from Alverno High's annual Candlelight Celebration.

hosted their annual Candlelight Celebration on Wednesday. Students, their families and alumnae gathered near the Villa Del Sol d’ Oro in warm winter gear and took part in the story of Christmas from the birth of Jesus to the Annunciation. Student and alumnae actors re-created the story and the crowd joined the choirs for traditional Christmas music as they traveled from scene to scene. With more than 200 people in attendance, the light from each candle created a true Christmas atmosphere.

More than 40 alumnae were in attendance and each alumna was given a special red candle to signify their status.

“Candlelight is such a great Alverno tradition because it brings our entire community back together. It is nice because there is the opportunity to interact with community members, current students, and alumnae, while being back on campus,” said Sara McCarthy ‘05, Admissions Assistant. “As an alumna, I was so thrilled to see so many other alumnae come back and take part in this great tradition and join in the holiday fun. I think it is so wonderful that Candelight has become a Christmas tradition for everyone in the Alverno family.”
