Wind is expected to start off at 15 to 20 mph this morning, then decrease to five to 10 mph later today. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph.

Many trees and utility poles are weakened from Thursday night's storm, so falling trees and branches are still a possibility.

Fallen trees and utility poles plus hundreds of tons of debris continue to litter the streets. City and county crews are working to clear the roads, but as of 9 a.m. this morning, four roads are still blocked at the following addresses:

  • 400 W Carter Ave.
  • 79 W Laurel Ave. (see photo on the right)
  • 21 Montecito Court – (the alley behind downtown businesses)
  • 510 W Manzanita Ave.

"Public works staff and public safety staff are resuming responsibility cleaning roads and working hard to get everything back up and running," said McClure.

All of Sierra Madre's 911 calls are currently being diverted to Monrovia.

"We are currently working through our radios and contact, but everything’s working out well so far," said McClure.

Water wells continue to run on a generator and city tanks are fully loaded. However, residents are reminded to conserve water until power is restored. Generators are not meant to serve as a long-term power solution, Mayor John Buchanan said yesterday during an emergency City Council meeting.

City Hall is closed today, but phone lines are staffed. Call (626) 355-7135 if you need city assistance.

Sierra Madre's Emergency Operations Center will be fully staffed until 6 p.m. tonight, unless winds pick up again.

Call 911 for true emergencies, downed trees and power lines. For non-emergencies, the Sierra Madre Police Department can be reached at (626) 355-1414.

As of 9 a.m., there are approximately 151,000 SoCalEdison customers without power across the Southland, and 94,000 LADWP customers without power.
