Video: Huff Talks About June Primary

The fall of Prop. 29 also makes the senator's comments this week.

Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) gives his review of the June Primary Election in his Capitol Comment this week.

Huff says the impending defeat of Proposition 29, which would have resulted in higher taxes on tobacco, is not a good sign for the governor's plan to seek a $50 billion tax hike later this fall. Voters called for reform in the election and rejected a statewide tax increase for the eighth straight time.

Huff also details the victory for pension reform efforts in both San Jose and San Diego, noting that the local reform measures send a strong message that voters want similar public pension reform on the statewide level, and called upon legislative Democrats to stop blocking the Governor's reform plan.
