Utility Users Tax Forum Scheduled

The Kiwanis Club will host a forum Tuesday about the Utility Users Tax and April ballot Measures 12-1 and 12-2, which propose the UUT increase extension. All are welcome to bring their questions.

On Tuesday March 27, the Sierra Madre Kiwanis Club will host an informational forum about the Utility Users Tax.

Attorney Mark Steres will be the speaker. Steres has expertise in land use and planning, the Subdivision Map Act, CEQA, affordable housing, cable and telecommunications, public contracts and franchises, the Brown Act, conflicts of interest, fiscal issues and elections.


He is going to speak about UUTs and the Sierra Madre UUT measures that will appear on the April ballot. The forum will allow attendees, both for and opposed to Measures 12-1 and 12-2, to ask questions.

The forum will be at 12 p.m. and an optional lunch will be available for $10. Lunch reservations are required, and may be made by calling Clem Bartolai at (626) 355-0757.

The location is The Lodge in Sierra Madre, at 33 E. Sierra Madre Blvd.

Visitors who have difficulty hearing the PA system should bring a portable radio with earphones, and tune to 104.7-FM to hear the PA sound.

What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
