Star-News Endorses Harabedian, Koerber, MacGillivray

The Pasadena Star-News released its top picks for the Sierra Madre election: incumbent MaryAnn MacGillivray, John Harabedian and Chris Koerber.

The Pasadena Star-News released its City Council candidate endorsements for Sierra Madre's April 10 election early this morning: incumbent MaryAnn MacGillivray, John Harabedian and Chris Koerber.

The paper says it chose MacGillivray because of her commitment to slow growth and favoring of "transparent government" in Sierra Madre; Harabedian because of his Internet knowledge, which could translate to better web services for the city; and Koerber for his financial planning background and concern for city spending.

The endorsements come at the end of the campaign road for the seven candidates.

Throughout the various forums and mixers that have been held, a line has been drawn between two groups: MacGillivray, Koerber and John Capoccia ... and Harabedian, Gene Goss and Colin Braudrick. The divide is partly due to each group's view on Measure 12-1, the Utility Users Tax Increase Extension.

MacGillivray, Koerber and Capoccia have all , while Harabedian, Goss and Braudrick . As a result, many residents who have placed campaign signs in their yards or spoken up at City Council meetings have chosen to align themselves with one group or the other.
