Sierra Madre Will Appoint New PUSD Committee Member

The Sierra Madre City Council is looking for individuals interested in being appointed to the committee seat previously held by City Council Member Joe Mosca.

Sierra Madre's City Council will soon appoint a new liaison to the Pasadena Unified School District Districting Committee. The new appointment was made necessary following a vacancy created by the .

The specially formed committee is charged with determining new geographic sub-districts from which members will be elected to the Pasadena Unified School District School Board.

Currently, board members are selected in at-large elections, a system which opens up the district to potential lawsuits alleging violation of the California Voting Rights Act.

The Committee began meeting in spring 2011 and is scheduled to complete its assignments by June 2012.

The Sierra Madre City Council will make appointment to fill the vacant seat during their next regular meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 8.
