Sierra Madre Appoints New Library Director

Carolyn Thomas recently worked as a Library Services Manager for the Anaheim Public Library system.

The City of Sierra Madre has announced that Carolyn Thomas will be the new Director of Library Services, effective Nov. 14. She will replace Toni Buckner, who in heading up the .

“I am delighted to accept this new position at Sierra Madre and look forward to meeting the staff and community members” Thomas said in a press release.

Thomas most recently worked as Library Services Manager for the Anaheim Public Library system where she oversaw the opening of a new youth services facility at the East Anaheim Branch Library.

Prior to holding that position, Thomas worked as a Senior Librarian at the , coordinating children’s, teen and adult programs.

Thomas has a Master of Library Science degree from San Jose State University, and she is a member of the California Library Association, Public Library Association and American Library Association.

Thomas resides in Glendora with her husband David, where they raised their two sons, Matthew and Mark, who are now both married.

“Carolyn’s breath of experience, expertise and friendly personality make her a great addition to the Sierra Madre management team and the community as a whole,” City Manager Elaine Aguilar said in a release announcing the appointment.
