Red Flag Fire Warning Issued, Dry Thunderstorms Possible

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning Tuesday for Los Angeles County and said lightning could ignite fires in places already dried out by a recent heat wave.

The chance of dry thunderstorms and lightning throughout the region prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning for Los Angeles County Tuesday afternoon.

The thunderstorms could accompany dry and erratic winds and the San Gabriel Mountains were identified as a "main area of concern," according to the NWS. The "isolated to scattered high based thunderstorms" could begin Tuesday night and last through Wednesday, NWS said.

"The storms will contain little in the way of rainfall and have the potential for dry lightning strikes and gusty erratic winds," the warning states. "Any dry lightning activity could result in fire starts due to the recent heat wave and very dry fuels."

What do you think of the possibility of dry thunderstorms? Are you taking any precautions?

What are these "organizations that can assist educators in providing an additional incomeRead More source for school supplies?" What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
