The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing tonight to consider Gary Gapezzani's request to open a martial arts studio at 303 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., right next to Arnold's Hardware. The 3,300 square foot space is currently empty, but was formerlly occupied by Highlander Jr. Market & Liquor.

A Conditional Use Permit (CUP) is required for any fitness studio (or similar business) to open in Sierra Madre. According to city code, a permit is required to ensure that "such uses will be rendered compatible with other uses located in the general area."
