Commission Vacancies: Planning, Senior, Library

Sierra Madre is on the hunt for some new commissioners. There are open spots on the Planning Commission, the Senior Community Commission and the Library Board of Trustees.

If you want a say in city affairs, you may want to consider joining the Planning Commission, Senior Community Commission or the Library Board of Trustees.

In July there will be several vacancies on city commissions:

  • Two spots on the Planning Commission
  • One spot on the Senior Community Commission
  • One spot on the Library Board of Trustees

If your interest is piqued, you may want to consider applying now. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.

Citizen commissions and commitees tackle in-depth issues and problems relating to their expertise. They serve as an advisory board to the City Council, though they are often empowered to make decisions on their own (subject to appeal by the Council.)

Commission members attend regular, publicized meetings throughout the year.

If you're interested, pick up an application at City Hall, 232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., or download one via the City website at http://cityofsierramadre.com/commissions-boards-committees

If you need more info or have any questions, call the city at 626-355-7135.

What are these "organizations that can assist educators in providing an additional incomeRead More source for school supplies?" What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
