New Condos Coming to Sierra Madre

A new two-story, five-unit condominium will be built on East Sierra Madre Boulevard and Sierra Place.

Sierra Madre Boulevard will see a new condo project.

The City Council Tuesday unanimously approved the construction of a new five-unit, two-story condominium on a vacant, undeveloped lot on East Sierra Madre Boulevard and Sierra Place.

The project and the developers were lauded by residents who spoke up at the meeting and by City Council members. Residents were pleased that the developers worked actively with the city’s various commissioners and residents to create a project that fit Sierra Madre.

Councilmember MaryAnn MacGillivray said the project was a good example of how developers can work with the community and mentioned that the developers gave up one initially proposed unit so the project could go forward.

In total, the condominium building will be 9,689 square feet, have four three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath homes and one four-bedroom home. Each unit will have two enclosed parking spaces. The height will not be above 30 feet, and there will be landscaping on the front and side of the building.

The project fits within Measure V guidelines. Measure V has been a hot topic lately due to the proposed assisted living facility on Sierra Madre Boulevard. With more than 70 proposed dwelling units, the Kensington Project does not fit within Measure V, and will go to a special vote in November.
