Meeting Preview: PUSD to Vote on Budget Tuesday Night

The school board is looking at almost $15 million in potential cuts and is scheduled to vote on a final budget tonight.

The Pasadena Unified School Board is looking at $14.9 million in potential cuts at tonight's school board meeting and will vote on finalizing next year's budget.

The district has been looking at a variety of cuts for months, and in March, the board voted to authorize

The meeting's staff report, which can be viewed on the right, does recommend taking out $1.4 million in cuts to save 15 librarian jobs.  That recommendation, the report states, is the result of that could be coming from the state.

Even if all the cuts are made, district officials are still projecting a budget deficit for the next two years, about $3.2 million for the upcoming year's budget, and about $6.5 million for 2012-2013.

The meeting is Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the , and the budget is the only item on the agenda.
