Former Mayor and current Council Member Joe Mosca will announce his resignation from the Sierra Madre City Council during Tuesday's meeting.

UPDATED: Mosca has also released a PDF copy of a letter that is being mailed to all Sierra Madre residents. The letter is attached to this article at right, below the main photo.

In an email to supporters sent Tuesday afternoon, Sierra Madre City Council Member and former Mayor Joe Mosca announced he will be stepping down from his seat on the council.

In the brief letter, Mosca says that his partner Matt Bosse will be taking a new job in London and that the couple will be moving overseas as Bosse accepts the new position.

Mosca says he will announce his resignation during tonight's City Council meeting and that it will become effective as of the first City Council meeting in November. That leaves just one meeting after tonight's, on Oct. 25 over which Mosca will preside as a member of the City Council.

Here's the letter in its entirety:

Dear Friends:

I hope all is well for you. I would like to let you know of an important family decision that Matt and I have recently made.

As you might know, Matt is an HIV physican and researcher, and recently his company has promoted him and transfered him to an international position located in London. After much careful thought, we have decided that it is best for the entire family to move together to London.

So, it is mixed feelings that I let you know that I will be stepping down from City Council as of the first City Council meeting in November. I will make this announcement tonight at a City Council meeting.

Over the next several weeks, I will reach out to all of you to personally thank you and to chat more about our move.

Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Joe
