Get a Sneak Peek at Sierra Madre's Upcoming State of the City Address Right Here on Patch

Get a sneak peek at the upcoming address right here on Patch via a copy of the presentation Mayor Mosca made to the Sierra Madre Woman's Club in January.

Next week, Sierra Madre Mayor Joe Mosca will deliver the city's first ever "State of the City" address at the in the at 611 East Sierra Madre Boulevard. The host for the event will be Mayor Pro Tem John Buchanan, and the Mayor's speech will also be preceded by a performance by from .

Much like the annual State of the Union address given by the President, the speech will highlight successes, city services and programs over the recent year before moving on to outlining the city’s goals for the coming fiscal year. According to a city announcement, the theme for the State of the City evening will be “Working Together the Sierra Madre Way.”

Though this will be the first official State of the City address, Sierra Madre Mayors have been addressing the Woman's Club regarding city affairs on an annual basis for many years, . On Wednesday, Jan. 12, Mayor Joe Mosca addressed the with an informal presentation that looked into the city's financial state, current programs as well as an in-depth look at the .

"We had a presentation and I gave comments based on that presentation, Mosca said in an email following the Woman's Club event. "The address in February will be more of a formal speech."

In addition to the performance and keynote address, staff representatives from every city department will man booths meant to provide information about current Sierra Madre programs and projects. The staff members will also be answering questions from members of the community.

Sierra Madre parents with little ones who may not be interested in the event  needn't worry either, as the and Community Services departments will be providing free child care at the event. And of course, refreshments will be provided for all in attendance.
 
Though the city's government access channel SMTV-3 will not be showing the event live, it will be taped by the Community Media of the Foothills team and rebroadcast on the cable channel as well as on the city's website.
