Council Approves Plan to Turn Single Family Home into Multi-Family Units

The Sierra Madre City Council voted to approve a plan to build two 900-square feet multi-family housing units on a lot where a single-family home currently stands at its meeting Tuesday night.

The property, located at 215 N. Baldwin Avenue currently was zoned as Residential Medium Density - building the units required the city to change the zoning to Residential High Density, according to the staff report.

The home on the property is 3-bedrooms, 2,145 square feet and was built in 1947, according to the County Assessor Office website.

The Council voted to deny the applicant's request to waive fees associated with the permit process, according to Elisa Cox, a spokeswoman for the city.
