The Sierra Madre City Council meeting on Tuesday night will include discussion of whether the city should take a position on the proposed tunnel extension of the 710 Freeway.
The environmental study of the 710 tunnel project has included looking at surface road routes and adding light rail and bus routes. The tunnel alternative could increase traffic on the 210 Freeway, the impact most likely to affect Sierra Madre residents.
The council agenda lists discussion of the project and the possibility of taking a formal position on the project, but no recommendation from staff.
Besides the 710 issue, the agenda also includes:
- Approval of a proposed T-Mobile cell tower on city property
- Discussion of second-unit permit issues related to the city's 2008-2014 housing plan.
- Discussion of the city's potential infrastructure needs
- Discussion of the city's organizational structure
