POLICE BLOTTER: Woman Kidnapped on Mountain Trail Ave., Brick Thrown through Buccaneer Window

Knife-Brandishing Suspect Hurls Brick through Buccaneer Window; Car Robbed at St. Rita's Church and Woman Kidnapped on Mountain Trail Ave.

Calls to the Sierra Madre Police Department in the week period between Sept. 5 and Sept. 11, included exhibit of a deadly weapon, auto burglary and kidnapping. 

On Monday, Sept. 6 at 1:13am police received a call stating that a suspect had drawn and exhibited a deadly weapon at the Buccaneer Lounge, located at 70 W. Sierra Made Blvd. After brandishing a knife at a patron when he was asked to leave, a suspect then threw a large rock through the front window, shattering the glass. Witnesses described the suspect as an Hispanic or Armenian male, 35-40 years old with a dark complexion, short black hair and brown eyes. The suspect, who is believed to have been around 5'11", 165 lbs was last seen wearing a red shirt with a "Sprouts" market logo and khaki pants. Police are seeking any information related o the crime and potential witnesses who may have any information regarding this case are being asked to contact the police department.

On the next day, Tuesday, Sept. 7, a suspect or suspects smashed the front passenger window of a car parked at St. Rita's Church, located at 314 N. Baldwin Ave. A black backpack, the value of which has been estimated at $230, was stolen from under the front seat of the car. While the crime was reported at 11:23am, the crime is believed to have happened somewhere between 9:30 and 11:15am.

Responding to a call reporting a suspicious vehicle in the 500 block of E. Montecito Ave. at 10:39pm on Wednesday, Sept. 8, an extra residential patrol ran a records check and discovered each subject in the car had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. One warrant had been issued for trespassing, the other for possession of marijuana. The subjects, both of whom were male, were transported to the Sierra Madre Police Department headquarters where they were later handed over to officers from the Monrovia and Pasadena Police Departments.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 11, two suspects reportedly forced a woman into the back seat of a car and stole her purse. According to police reports, the victim was driven a few blocks south on Mountain Trail Avenue before being released just north of Orange Grove Avenue. The crime which has been recorded as cases of both Kidnapping and Robbery, initially occurred at around 11:30pm Friday night near the intersection of Sierra Madre Boulevad and Mountain Trail Avenue. The crime was later reported at 12:31am Saturday morning. The victim described the suspects as two males, 26-28 years old, driving a newer, dark colored car. The loss was reported as a black purse containing a black wallet, some cash, and the woman's California Identification Card.

For the week, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 244 calls for service of which these four events were the most notable.
