SMPD Officer Allegedly Bitten During Arrest

After officers stopped a 64-year-old driver in Sierra Madre Wednesday, police say one of their officers was bitten.

A 64-year-old driver was pulled over Wednesday just after 3:00 p.m. in the 600 block of Grandview Ave. in Sierra Madre for a vehicle code violation, according to police reports.

The driver, who is a Sierra Madre resident, "delayed or obstructed" officer duties, according to Watch Commander Sgt. Joe Ortiz. So, the driver was placed under arrest, and allegedly bit one of the police officers on his arm during the process.

The officer was treated for the bite, said Ortiz.
