Small Dumpster Fire Reported Near Saint Rita Church

Fire contained to dumpster area, no damage reported.

Fire fighters made quick work of a small fire reported in the dumpster area behind , Sunday.

The fire was reported before 1 p.m. near the church, 318 North Baldwin Avenue, according to fire officials.  No damage was reported.

According to Sergeant Esther Doyle of , hot coals were allegedly dumped out by an unknown individual. Church services were reportedly going on at the time and someone spotted the fire before it spread.

"It was confined, it was all in the trash bin. It never left the dumpster," Doyle said.

The church was never evacuated, considering the small containment of the coals and flames.

There were no reported witnesses to who may have dumped the coals.
