Sierra Madre Remembers 9/11 Attacks

The SMFD and SMPD held a moment of silence on Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Fire Department. Dozens of residents joined to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

It was an overcast early Sunday morning as dozens of residents joined the and at 6:45 a.m. for a ceremony commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

The crowd was sprinkled with U.S. Armed Forces veterans and young children, many of whom were several years from being born when the attacks occurred in 2001.

SMFD Chief Steve Heydorff and SMPD Chief Marilyn Diaz were on hand to lead the ceremony.

After a moment of silence, the event featured playback of a recorded remembrance the horrific events of Sept. 11, 2001.

A "ringing of the bells" also took place in honor of the fallen, a firefighter tradition that goes back more than 150 years.

Following the service, attendees were invited to stay for a breakfast provided by local coffee shop .

What are these "organizations that can assist educators in providing an additional incomeRead More source for school supplies?" What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
