Sierra Madre Police Seek Hit and Run Suspect

Solo driver lost control and struck utility pole on Sturtevant Drive just before 4 p.m. on Monday, July 18.

Sierra Madre Police are seeking a man in connection with a suspected hit and run accident that occurred on Monday, July 18, at about 3:56 p.m. on Sturtevant Drive.

In an email alert to neighborhood watch captains, Sgt. Ruben Enriquez of the Sierra Madre Police Department described the event as "a solo-vehicle hit-and-run traffic accident."

According to Enriquez, the suspect was driving a gray, 1990, Chevrolet Blazer headed eastbound in the 200 block of Sturtevant Drive. Witnesses said the driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a power pole, then walked away from the scene.

Witnesses attempted to follow the driver, but lost sight of him as he was walking eastbound on Old Ranch Road, near the intersection with Pleasant Hill Lane.

The suspect has been described to police as a white male, 45 years of age, about 6 feet 2 inches tall, thin build, about 180 pounds, long brown hair tied in a ponytail, with a mustache and goatee.

The description of the driver also indicates that he was wearing a white t-shirt with blue writing on it, blue jeans, white or gray tennis shoes, and was also wearing orange reflective sunglasses.
