Sierra Madre Police Blotter: Gang Member Arrest, Battery, Missing Jewelry

The following information was provided by the Sierra Madre Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

The shared the following incidents, which took place between Aug. 13 and Aug. 19:

Loaded Gun, Drugs, Gang Member Arrest
Thursday Aug. 16
At 12:05 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle with an inoperable headlight at Foothill Boulevard and Michillinda Avenue.  The officer soon determined that the driver was on probation for robbery and ordered all 4 occupants out of the vehicle.  During a subsequent search of the vehicle the officer found a loaded .38 caliber revolver on the rear floorboard, an open container of beer and a baggy containing marijuana.  A male, 32 years of age and a female 19 years of age were arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm.  It was later determined that the male is an active member of the South Side Pasa Gang.

Battery
Sunday Aug. 19
Units responded to a 911 hang-up call in the 100 block of Esperanza Avenue.  The investigation revealed that a verbal argument had taken place between two parties at the location. This escalated into a physical altercation in which one party grabbed the other and pushed her.  The victim requested a private persons arrest for the misdemeanor and a male, 52 years of age was arrested for battery.

Missing Jewelry
Saturday, Aug. 18
Earlier this month, Sierra Madre residents moved to a new home in Monrovia.  As they packed, they placed important documents and jewelry in a separate bag that they intended to transport personally to the new address.  However they accidentally left this bag inside an item of furniture that was subsequently moved by employees of a moving company they hired.  Days later, while unpacking, the owners discovered the some of the jewelry was missing from the bag.
