An SMPD officer stopped three men on Baldwin Avenue after overhearing an Arcadia Police radio transmission.

assisted Arcadia PD units in the arrest of three men suspected of burglarizing a home in Arcadia Thursday morning. The stop was made at around 8:45 a.m., Thursday, March 11, on Baldwin Avenue near the 210 freeway, according to a release from Sergeant Tom Le Veque of the Arcadia PD.

Arcadia Police were contacted after “loud and continuous knocking on her front door” disturbed a woman in her home in the 400 block of Arbolada Drive in Arcadia, according to the statement.

The woman and her husband immediately dialed 911 to report the intruders continuing to watch the invasion in progress and reporting that two men were knocking at the front door and were heard near the bathroom window on their rear deck. Soon after, the residents saw the two male suspects walking out of the backyard, down the driveway and into the street.

“It appears that the suspects either saw or heard the residents inside the home and abandoned their attempts to gain entry, choosing to flee,” Sgt. Le Veque said in the release detailing the incident.

A short time later, an SMPD officer stopped a vehicle containing occupants matching the description of the suspects in the attempted burglary.

Arcadia PD units responded to assist in the traffic stop and were able to positively identify two of the suspects.

Three men were taken into custody on the scene, identified as Kenneth M. Battle, 25, of Los Angeles, Justin D. Tyson, 29, of Fontana and Dewayne M. Tyars, 25, of Redlands. Battle and Tyson were both booked on felony charges of attempted residential burglary and receiving stolen property and were put on a parole hold with no bail. Tyars, the third suspect, was booked on the same felony charges and bail was set at $50,000. All three suspects were taken to the Arcadia City Jail.
