Sierra Madre is Not the 95 Percent

Nearly 500 Edison crews are working throughout the San Gabriel Valley, but about 2,700 Sierra Madre residents were still without power at 9:00 a.m. this morning.

Updated 9:20 a.m.

Following last week's devastating wind storm, over 226,000 Southern California Edison customers and practically all of Sierra Madre was left in the dark.

Edison originally stated that all power would be restored to affected customers by Sunday evening.

But as Sunday approached, Edison pushed back their timeline. They said that by 8:00 p.m., 95 percent of customers would have service restored. Unfortunately, Sierra Madre was not part of the 95 percent.

As of 9:00 a.m., Edison's outage map showed that 2,714 Sierra Madre customers were still without power. That's down 97 customers since last night.

The estimated time for power restoration varies.

For 1,856 customers along Mountain Trail Ave., residents along W Highland Ave., residents along Grove Lane and residents near Sierra Madre Blvd. and Park Ave., the estimated restoration time is Monday at 8:00 p.m.

For three customers along Colony Dr., there is no projected restoration time. Instead their outage map says it's "currently being re-evaluated."

But, these time estimates could change at any time, and they're no guarantee. Edison says that 99.9 percent of customers will have power by Monday night.

So far, Edison has declined to give a specific timeline for when power will be restored to specific neighborhoods. They are, however, sending frequent updates as to how many customers are getting their power back.

As of 9 a.m. Monday, 32,000 Edison customers were still without power.

Power outages in the San Gabriel Valley peaked at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, when 226,053 customers were in the dark.
