Sierra Madre Appoints Acting Police Chief to Permanent Role

Acting Police Chief Larry Giannone has been named as the department's permanent police chief.

Sierra Madre Acting Police Chief Larry Giannone has been appointed to take the job permanently, according to a press release sent out by the city.

Giannone has been serving as acting police chief since December of 2011 and previously was a captain at the Police Department, a job he took in 2007.

Giannone was appointed to the position following the retirement of Sierra Madre's previous police chief, Marilyn Diaz.

He previously worked in the Monterey Park Police Department for 26 years and originally started his career in the Huntington Beach Police Department, according to the city's release.

Chief Giannone will be sworn in at the November 27, 2012 City Council Meeting.
