Police Search Van, Arrest El Monte Man on Suspicion of DUI

The driver was given a field sobriety and breathalyzer test before being placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Sierra Madre police arrested an El Monte man at around 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning after receiving a call from a resident who suspected the man was driving under the influence. According to police, the red minivan was traveling more than 45 mile per hour headed east through downtown Sierra Madre.

The van, containing three men who all identified themselves as El Monte residents, was stopped on S. Baldwin Avenue shortly thereafter. Police removed the men from the van and handcuffed the driver before preceding to question them and search the vehicle.

The driver was given a field sobriety and breathalyzer test before being placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police held the van after arresting the driver, though the other two men were released following a thorough search of the vehicle and their persons.
