Police Blotter: Two Meth Incidents in One Day

Meth was found twice in one day, a strangely parked car lead to a DUI arrest, and two vehicle burglaries left victims without a wallet, some cash and a sleeping bag.

During the week of Sunday, Feb. 12, to Saturday, Feb. 18, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 250 calls for service. These were the most notable, according to SMPD.

On Sunday February 12 at about 2:15 a.m., a woman was found to have parked her car half on the sidewalk and half on the street near Sierra Madre Blvd. and Mountain Trail Ave. Police investigation revealed the woman was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and taken to the Pasadena Police Department jail for booking. The woman is a South Pasadena resident.

At 2:21 p.m. on Thursday February 16, police stopped a motorist for a Vehicle Code violation at Baldwin Ave. and Foothill Blvd. Police say a further investigation revealed the driver was in possession of a glass pipe containing methamphetamine, had a suspended driver’s license, gave the officer false information, and had an outstanding warrant of $35,000. The suspect, a Monterey Park resident, was arrested and taken to Pasadena Police Department jail for booking.

Later on at 11:42 p.m. on February 16, police say they came into contact with a suspect who was carrying a pipe with methamphetamine in it near Michillinda Ave. and Colorado Blvd. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Police arrested the suspect and transported them to Pasadena Police Department jail.

Air Force Sleeping Bag Stolen

An Air Force sleeping bag and $2.00 in assorted coins was allegedly stolen from a vehicle in the 800 block of Skyland Drive at 1:48 p.m. on Tuesday February 14. The suspect(s) fled in an unknown direction.

Petty Theft from a Vehicle

On February 16 at 1:26 p.m., unknown suspect(s) allegedly entered an unlocked car at 611 E Sierra Madre Blvd. and stole a Blackberry cell phone and a black leather man’s wallet. The victim said the wallet contained an American Express card, a Wells Fargo card, a Wells Fargo corporate card, a driver’s license and a Bank of America check for $250. The suspect apparently fled in an unknown direction.

Identity Thefts

Identity theft reports continue to trickle in to police after the discovery of remnants of a credit and debit card-skimming device at the Valero gas station in December. At last inquiry, the SMPD reported that $25,000 had been pilfered from stolen credit and debit card accounts and about 50 identity theft reports had been filed.

7:03 p.m. This incident involves the unauthorized use of the victim’s credit/debit card number which was obtained from the Valero gas station.

Wednesday February 15:

3:39 p.m. This incident involves the unauthorized use of the victim’s credit/debit card number which was obtained from the Valero gas station.

Thursday February 16:

11:52 a.m. This incident involves the unauthorized use of the victim’s credit/debit card number which was obtained from the Valero gas station.

9:37 p.m. This incident involves the unauthorized use of the victim’s credit/debit card number which was obtained from the Valero gas station.
