Police Blotter: Parolee Cruises Sierra Madre

A parolee and his female friend were found cruising Sierra Madre with stolen property taken from residents in town and around the San Gabriel Valley. Plus, stolen mail, annoying telephone calls and a drunken incident in Kersting Ct.

The following information was provided by Sierra Madre Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Police responded to approximately 219 calls for service from January 15 to January 21. These are the most notable:

26-year-old Parolee Cruises Sierra Madre With Friend

An officer stopped a 26-year old Los Angeles motorist for a Vehicle Code violation in the Orange Grove Ave. and Orlando Dr. intersection at 11:35 p.m. on Thursday January 19. Further investigation revealed that the driver had three outstanding no-bail warrants. Also, the 26-year old passenger was a parolee-at-large.  After both individuals were arrested, an inventory of the car uncovered numerous items of property that had been stolen from the residents in Sierra Madre and other cities.  The female driver was transported to the Pasadena Police Department jail for booking and the male passenger was transported to IRC for booking.           

Ex-Girlfriend Makes Annoying Telephone Calls

At 6:35 p.m. on Monday January 16 in the 500 blk. W. Sierra Madre Blvd., an ex-girlfriend was found by police making harassing phone calls to her ex-boyfriend after she was advised to stop contact.

Afternoon Drunk in Kersting Ct.

At 1:10 p.m. on Friday January 20, an intoxicated male at Kersting Ct. was arrested for public intoxication and transported to Pasadena Police Department jail for booking.   

Drunken Disturbance Between Husband and Wife

At 11:15 p.m. on Friday January 20 in the 200 blk. of San Gabriel Ct., officers responded to a disturbance call between a husband and wife.  The victim was intoxicated and was uncooperative.

Vehicle Registration Lifted from Honda

On Friday January 20 at 7:31 a.m. in the 100 blk.  E. Mira Monte Ave., a  suspect entered an unlocked parked car and stole a 2011 DMV vehicle registration, 2011 Honda owner’s manual and a red and black blanket. Suspects were found in possession of the property.    

Auto Burglary

An hour later on Friday January 20 at 8:33 a.m. in the 200 blk. of Sturtevant Dr., suspects entered a locked vehicle and stole a Garmin GPS, an iPod and an iPhone car charger. Suspects were found in possession of the property.   

Petty Theft from a Car

A mere 15 minutes later at 8:45 a.m. back on E. Mira Monte Ave., suspects entered an unlocked car and stole a gray sleeping bag, a flannel jacket, a box of one dozen bibles, a knife with a blue handle and a flashlight.  Suspects were found in possession of the property.       

Smart Meter Theft

At 12:29 p.m. in the 400 blk. W. Sierra Madre Blvd on Saturday January 21, unknown suspect(s) took a Southern California Edison Smart Connect Smart Meter from a storage room.    

Grafitti on the Curb

On January 19 at 10:19 a.m. in the 100 blk. of Mariposa Ave., police determined that unknown suspect(s) used spray paint to graffiti the curb side.

Stolen UPS Package... Suspects Found with Stolen Mail

On Monday January 16 at approximately 12:20 p.m., a mail theft occurred in the 300 blk. of Olive Tree Ln. Unknown suspect(s) removed mail from outside the victim’s front door.  The victim was notified about the package arrival by UPS delivery notice.

On Friday January 20 at 7:58 a.m. and 2:49 p.m., two suspects were found in possession of stolen mail in the 200 blk. of Old Rancho Rd. at 7:58 a.m.

Two suspects were found in possession of stolen mail at 5:53 p.m. in the 300 Blk. of Grove St. on Saturday January 21.

More Identity Theft

Identity thefts continue to pour in to police. All of these incidents except for one are thought to stem from residents having used their credit and debit cards at the Valero gas station in December.

Sunday, January 15:

8:24 AM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized fraudulent use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.

11:42 AM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized fraudulent use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.

12:45 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized fraudulent use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.

2:37 PM- Use 0f Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized fraudulent use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.

3:10 PM- Use Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized fraudulent use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.

Tuesday, January 17:

4:05 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized fraudulent use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.

3:20 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc.  Unknown suspect(s) used the victim’s stolen credit cards to make unauthorized purchases.

Thursday, January 19:

4:05 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized fraudulent use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station. 

Friday, January 20:

12:29 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized fraudulent use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.  

5:47 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized fraudulent use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.  

Saturday, January 21:

3:29 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized fraudulent use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.

What are these "organizations that can assist educators in providing an additional incomeRead More source for school supplies?" What are the other "big retailers" besides Staples that are helping teachers with rewards programs? This is a great subject but there is little detail here beyond a link to the Staples program. Would love to read a follow up piece with more useful information.
