Police Blotter: Drug Arrests, Residential Burglaries, and Bomb Squad Deployment

Several residential burglaries, a few arrests during traffic stops for possession of narcotics, vandalism at Sierra Madre School's upper campus, and more crimes occurred last week. Also the LASD's bomb squad was deployed to secure an artillery shell.

MONDAY, MARCH 14, 11:27 a.m. - A vandalism incident occurred on the upper campus at the Sierra Madre School, located at 160 N. Canon Avenue. The suspect(s) shattered the basketball backboard.

TUESDAY, MARCH 15, 11:25 a.m. - A residential burglary occurred in the 300 block of N. Sunnyside Avenue. The suspect(s) pried open a rear window to gain entry to the residence. The resident had an alarm with motion detectors inside. Nothing was stolen and the residence was not ransacked.

11:46 a.m. - A residential burglary occurred in the 2000 block of Liliano Drive. The suspect(s) entered the residence through an unlocked side window while the residents were out hiking during the morning. The suspect(s) ransacked the interior and stole several items of jewelry and an Apple Mac computer and tower. A possible suspect is a dark-skinned Hispanic male about 5'8" driving a white utility truck with a ladder affixed to the back.

THURSDAY, MARCH 17, 2:10 a.m. - An officer stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation in the 100 block of E. Grandview Avenue and cited the driver for possession of marijuana and an illegal smoking pipe.

2:31 p.m. - A resident in the 100 block of W. Grandview Avenue called the Fire Department to report that he had a 20mm military artillery shell that he no longer wanted. Officers responded and notified the LA County Sheriff's Department bomb squad, who promptly deployed to the scene. The immediate area was evacuated. The LASD bomb squad determined that the device was an inert training shell, and took the device to dispose of it.

FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 12:26 a.m. - An officer stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation at Rodeo and Foothill Boulevard. The officer determined that the driver was in possession of cocaine, hashish, ecstacy, and LSD, all packaged for sales. The officer arrested the Monrovia resident and booked him at the Pasadena Police Department jail.

8:17 p.m. - An officer stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation at Virginia and Santa Anita Avenue. The officer lawfully found an illegal fixed blade knife in the glove compartment and arrested the driver. The officer booked the suspect at the Pasadena Police Department jail.

SATURDAY, MARCH 19, 12:23 a.m. - An officer stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation at Sierra Madre Boulevard and Sunnyside Avenue. The officer determined that the driver was under the influence of a controlled substance and took the suspect to the Pasadena Police Department jail for booking.

2:48 p.m. - A grand theft exceeding $950 occurred in the 600 block of W. Montecito. The suspect(s) stole a wheelchair from a carport in front of the victim's residence.
