Police Blotter: Burglary, Theft, Marijuana Possession

During the week of Dec.18 to Dec. 24, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 245 calls for service.

Residential Burglary

Sunday, Dec. 18, 12:09 p.m. – Officers responded to a burglary investigation at the 800 block of Skyland Drive and found the burglary actually occurred between the period of Dec. 12 and Dec. 18. Unknown suspect(s) entered the attached garage that was left open and stole four snowboards, a snowboarding jacket and a pair of pants from the garage. Once inside the garage, the suspect(s) then entered an unlocked television room, which is next to the garage, and stole an Xbox video game console. The total loss was estimated at approximately $3,500.00.

Identity Thefts 

Monday, Dec. 19, 9:57 a.m. – Theft of Identity, The resident at the 300 block of Churchill Road reported being the victim of theft of identity after discovering that someone fraudulently used his credit card information and made an unauthorized purchase on his account.

1:35 a.m. – A resident at the 600 block of Auburn Avenue reported being the victim of theft of identity after discovering someone fraudulently used her credit information to obtain telephone service without the victim’s permission.  

Elder Abuse (Financial)

Wednesday, Dec. 21, 5:25 p.m. – Adult Protective Services alerted SMPD of a possible financial abuse to an elderly man at the 600 block of Canyon Crest. It was discovered the elderly man was a victim of a telephone scam, after he sent $500.00 to an out-of-state bogus publishing company.

Driving Arrests 

Friday, Dec. 23, 10:14 a.m. – An officer stopped a motorist for a Vehicle Code violation at Santa Anita Ave and Grandview Avenue. Further investigation revealed the motorist was driving without a valid driver’s license. The motorist was cited for the misdemeanor violation and released on a written promise to appear in court.

1:35 p.m. – An officer stopped a motorist for a Vehicle Code violation at Sierra Madre Boulevard and Michillinda Avenue. Further investigation revealed the motorist was driving without a valid driver’s license and was in possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. The motorist was cited for the violations and released on a written promise to appear in court.

Public Intoxication, Marijuana

Saturday, Dec. 24, 12:42 a.m. - Officers handled an incident of a disruptive customer that refused to leave Lucky Baldwin’s. Officers arrested the man for public intoxication and took him to the Pasadena Police Department jail for booking. 

9:09 PM – Arrest, Unlicensed Driver and Possession of Marijuana, Orange Grove Ave

and Rancho Rd. An officer stopped a motorist for a Vehicle Code violation at Orange Grove Avenue and Rancho Road. Further investigation revealed the motorist was driving without a valid driver’s license and his passenger was in possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Both men were cited for the violations and released on a written promise to appear in court.
