Police Arrest Woman for Suspected Narcotics Possession and Possible Parole Violation

Arrest made at the intersection of Don Pablo Drive and Foothill Boulevard in Arcadia.

Sierra Madre police arrested a woman for suspicion of narcotics and/or drug paraphernalia late Saturday night at the intersection of Don Pablo Drive and Foothill Boulevard in Arcadia. Police said there was also the possibility of a parole violation in the arrest.

The arrest followed a stop for a "traffic violation," according to Sgt. Paul Monforte, who could not provide specifics regarding the violation at the time.

Initial police scanner reports indicated that the woman needed to be transferred to county jail quickly because she "has not used in 12 hours" and could get sick if she did not receive treatment. Monforte would not confirm these reports.

Police did not specify what type of substance the woman was believed to be under the influence or in possession of, citing the need for further analysis.

"We have to be absolutely sure what we're dealing with before we say anything," Monforte said.

The arrest came just minutes before another motorist was just north of Foothill Boulevard.

"We've been trying to step things up around here," Monforte said of the arrest.

Initial requests to the Police Departments of both Arcadia and Monrovia for a female officer to assist in the investigation could not be accommodated. The Pasadena Police department, however, did respond with a female officer who eventually aided in arresting the woman.

"When we're dealing with a female suspect, we try to get an officer of the same sex on the scene to assist in any search," Monforte said.

"She'll have to go to county if it's a parole matter," Monforte said.
