Missing Redondo Beach Hiker Brian Carrico Appears to be Alive; Spotted by Helicopter Search Team Near San Jacinto Peak

The information was given to Banning-Beaumont Patch Editor Guy McCarthy by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department on Monday, Feb. 21 just after Noon.

Volunteers with the Riverside County Mountain Rescue Unit have said that helicopter rescue units spotted missing Redondo Beach hiker Brian Carrico, 57, from the air just before Noon Monday and that he appears to be alive.

According to rescue teams, Carrico was spotted in the Willow Creek drainage just below Wellman Divide, a position along the trail toward San Jacinto Peak.

The information was given to Banning-Beaumont Patch Editor Guy McCarthy by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department on Monday, Feb. 21 just after Noon.

Carrico has been missing since Saturday afternoon and search and rescue units from across Southern California, including members of the , have been assisting search efforts since he was reported missing late Saturday, Feb. 19.

Specific details of Carrico's condition were not clear as of around 1:00 p.m., but a rescue attempt was in the works, authorities told Patch.
