Man Arrested in Alleged Threat to Kill Girlfriend

The following information was supplied by the Sierra Madre Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sierra Madre Police arrested a man at 7:42 a.m. on Sunday, June 26 for allegedly threatening to kill his girlfriend.

According to police, the suspect threatened his girlfriend, who lives with him on Grove St., with a knife. Police also said the man sent the woman text messages implying that he was going to kill her. Following these threats, the victim notified the Sierra Madre Police Department,  which directed the victim to leave the location.

Police then obtained an emergency protective order on her behalf and officers staked out the location and arrested the suspect as he left his home the next morning.

The suspect was charged with making terrorists threats and booked at Pasadena Police Department jail. His bail was set at $100,000, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has since filed two felony counts of making terrorist threats against the suspect.

Police Use Taser on Sturtevant Drive Burglary Suspect

Police responded to a call from a Sierra Madre Canyon resident at 3:29 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, reporting an alleged attempted burglary.

According to police reports, the victim called the police after a man with a dog tried to enter her home, which is located in the 500 block of Sturtevant Drive. 

Soon after, SMPD officers arrived at the location and encountered the suspect in the driveway with the dog. 

According to the SMPD report, an officer deployed a Taser on the suspect after officers ordered him to surrender, and he did not comply and tried to run away.

The suspect was then taken into custody and transported to the Pasadena Police Department jail for booking.

Man Arrested for Disturbing the Peace

At 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, SMPD officers responded to a complaint of a man yelling and screaming from inside his home in the 200 block of Old Ranch Road. 

According to reports, Sierra Madre Police have previously responded to the same location no less than 16 times in the past six months for similar behavior. 

A neighbor signed a private person’s arrest and officers took the man to jail for disturbing the peace.

62-Year-Old Man Arrested on Suspicion of Felony DUI

At 10:52 p.m. on Friday, July 1 a Sierra Madre Police officer stopped a 62-year-old Sierra Madre motorist for an unspecified vehicle code violation and determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. 

Based on the suspect’s three previous DUI convictions within the past 10 years, the officer arrested the man on suspicion of felony DUI and took him to the Pasadena Police Department jail for booking. 

27-Year-Old Azusa Resident Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

An officer stopped a 27-year old Azusa motorist for an unspecified vehicle code violation and, following the stop, determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to Pasadena Police Department for booking on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. 

The initial stop was made near the intersection of Santa Anita Canyon Road and Arno Drive, according to Sierra Madre Police.

Man Arrested for Public Intoxication, Five Outstanding Warrants

At 10:09 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28 Sierra Madre Police officers arrested a man in the 100 bock of West Sierra Madre Boulevard on suspicion of public intoxication.  The man, who police reports described as a “homeless man on a bicycle” also had five outstanding warrants for his arrest. Police arrested the man and took him to the Pasadena Police Department jail.

Police Arrest Sleeping Man on Suspicion of Public Intoxication

At 1:59 a.m. on Friday, July 1, Sierra Madre Police arrested a man near the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Sierra Madre Boulevard on suspicion of “Disorderly Conduct/Drunk in Public.”

According to police, an officer “contacted an intoxicated man sleeping on a bus bench and arrested him.” The officer took the suspect to the Pasadena Police Department jail.

In the seven-day period between Sunday, June 26, and Saturday, July 2, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 299 calls for service. Of those, these reports were considered the most notable and added to the department’s weekly crime blotter.
