Crime Blotter: Heroin Arrest on Sierra Madre Boulevard

The following information was supplied by the Sierra Madre Police Department as part of their weekly crime blotter. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

report that last Thursday two officers responded to a possibly intoxicated man who was “slumped over on the curb.”  Upon arriving at the scene, the officers spoke to the suspect and “determined that he was under the influence of an opiate.”

Upon searching the man’s backpack, the officers reportedly found marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia.  The officers also learned from the SMPD dispatcher that the man had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. 

According to police, the man became uncooperative and “began to fight with officers, who repeatedly commanded him to stop resisting arrest.”

During the fight, police say the suspect bit one of the officers on the hand and also dropped a balloon containing tar heroin.

Eventually, SMPD officers were able to restrain the man and take him into custody. The 25-year-old Altadena man was later booked on multiple charges at the Pasadena Police Department jail. Those charges included threatening/resisting an executive officer and possession of heroin.

This incident occurred in the 100 block of Sierra Madre Boulevard at 4:18 p.m. on Thursday, July 28.

Man Tears Window Screen, Enters Home, Then Flees

At 9:41 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, the Sierra Madre Police Department received a report of an unknown male suspect who reportedly rang the front door bell of a victim’s house and tore the kitchen window screen in order to gain entry into the home. 

According to police, the victim yelled at the suspect, which caused him to flee up the driveway where he escaped in a silver 4-door car with a rear spoiler headed in an unknown direction.

Cell Phone Stolen From Unlocked Car

At 5:06 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, the SMPD received a report of a Verizon LG cellular telephone having been stolen from an unlocked car that was parked in the 100 block of Adams Street.

According to the report, the incident occurred at some time between the evening of Wednesday, July 25, and the following morning.

Suspicious Charges Made to Resident’s Debit Card

At 4:48 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, police received a report from a local resident who observed allegedly fraudulent charges that had been made to their debit card. According to police, the victim’s debit card was used to make $160.53 worth of charges at a Union 76 gas station in Fontana.

In the seven-day period between Sunday, July 24 and Saturday, July 30, the responded to approximately 318 calls for service. Of those reports, these were considered the most notable and added to the weekly crime blotter released by the SMPD.
