Los Angles County Mountain Areas on Wildfire Alert

High temperatures and wind gusts near 25 to 30 mph could create a Red Flag weather warning if humidity reaches below 15 percent.

Los Angeles County mountain residents are on heightened fire weather alert today and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Hot temperatures and wind gusts near 25 to 30 mph will blow high pressure into the mountains, according to the agency. Coastal and valley areas are expected to see temperatures climb to the 90s, the NWS reported.

A Red Flag weather warning will be issued if humidity is low and reaches below 15 percent while winds exceed 25 mph, according to county fire officials. Brushfires can spread more rapidly during these conditions.
