Softball Game Leads to Assault

Two parents got into an argument that turned physical on Sunday over a softball game at Sierra Vista Park.

Two parents of softball players got into a verbal argument on Sunday at that ended with one one of the men striking the other, according to Lt. P. Buchanan of the Sierra Madre Police Department.

Reports say that the incident occurred just before 9:00 p.m. near the bleachers of Heasley Field, and started because of something that happened during the game. Police did not specify what triggered the men to start fighting.

The argument escalated until one of the men hit the other with his hands, said Lt. Buchanan. There were several witnesses.

The man who was struck then filed a police report. The man did not sustain any visible injuries, according to police.

Police defined the assault as Battery, and are filing a report with the District Attorney, who will determine whether to move forward with the case.

Battery is punishable by up to six months in county jail and a $1,000 fine.
