Hiking Group Found, Returned to Chantry Flat

The group was headed for Mount Wilson when they got stranded, authorities said.

A hiking club dueled with the elements Saturday morning when they left the Chantry Flat area for Mount Wilson and were stranded and had to be rescued, authorities said.

Sheriff's deputies from the Crescenta Valley Station received a call about 11:05 a.m. and a rescue unit was flagged down by one of the club's members, who told the officer of the group's plight, said Sgt. Debra Herman.

"He said they got separated because of the rain and snow," she said.
